We had it earlier how this ‘Queen’ was quite pleased to bag a project with the lady filmmaker Deepa Mehta.

In a turn of events, Rani Mukherji said to have pulled herself out of the director’s adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s novel ‘Midnight’s Children’. Grapevines have it that the actress called it quits after finding out that she had to play the mother of a 14-year-old in the film.

However, Mehta doesn’t seem to agree on these speculations. She confirmed that Rani was indeed required to play a mother in a section of the film, but there is no kid in the film who is 14 years old. However the actress expressed her desire to quit the film to Mehta and is not a part of her film now.

“Rani had some personal reasons for not doing the film. I cannot disclose the reasons because there are some things, which are confidential between a director and an actor. I have great regard for Rani and total respect for why she is not working with me in this film,” stated the filmmaker dismissing the rumours.

The film in fact was planned to release in September this year. Now, this twist in plan looks to be a delay for the director. Besides, confirmation is also due from Vidya Balan, who is suppose to feature as Rani’s sister in the film.
